The Digital English Manager will work as a member of the English team, contributing to the fulfilment of British Council objectives in Afghanistan.  The post holder will be a digital and social media expert with high level command of the English language. The post holder’s main focus will be to curate content in order to develop and exciting and interactive digital engagement.

Role overview

Oversee development of English digital programme content on all BC Afghanistan digital platforms; provide guidance as to levels of quality, compliance and accessibility.

Curation and creation of digital English content for English for Afghans (English for Schools, English for Civil Servants, and English for Religious Leaders).

Curation and creation of digital English content for the ANAOA English programme.

Set up in collaboration with EES English Manager and Marketing Manager an interactive English Facebook page aimed at the wider Afghan public with both static and non-static content. This will include curation of content from Learn English sites, creation of content based on local English programmes and global social media pages to use for English Doctor Programme.

Develop & nurture digital communities of teachers & language learners

Work with English SBU leads and regional Head of Digital to develop a digital strategy for BC Afghanistan.

English programme success stories promotion.

English Doctor Programme (programme set up, launch, management and delivery).

Work at market level to facilitate the successful implementation and use of new digital tools and products.

Works with regional head of digital to ensure the successful implementation and utilisation of English content management system in Afghanistan.

Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders within the market and beyond, and with relevant external partners.

Promote new British Council digital products within the appropriate market segments and engage with larger Afghan audiences through digital.

Ensure editorial standards of digital content production in Afghanistan.
