European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC)

The European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), consists of the British Council, the Goethe Institute and the Institut Français d’Afghanistan.

In partnership with EUNIC, the British Council has played a key role in organising the National Theatre and Afghan International Short and Documentary Film Festivals since 2004.

Our purpose has been to:

  • be an advocate for the revival of cinema and theatre as an important dimension of the Afghan creative industry sector;
  • support the professional development of filmmakers and festival managers;
  • help Afghan artists from across the country to network; and
  • encourage international recognition of the Afghan film and theatre industry.
