Celebrating Shakespeare across cultures
An Afghan artist recently took part in the prestigious International Actors' Fellowship at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in the UK. Aside from being an Afghan theatre producer and artist, he is also the theatre department lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kabul University. He participated in the fellowship programme together with more than 20 other professional actors from a wide range of countries and cultural backgrounds.
The objective of the fellowship programme was to become more familiar with the works of William Shakespeare, to experience performing at the Globe Theatre and to celebrate a love of Shakespeare across the cultures.
The intensive three-week course covered topics such as rhetoric, voice and breathing exercises, music, centralisation, cartography, and group working on selected scenes and monologues.
